The Confluence alternativefor knowledge you own
The SecTepe Wiki gives you spaces, a page tree, templates and comments. Several people write on one page in real time, just like in Confluence. It is open source under Apache 2.0 and self-hosted in Germany and the EU.

Everything you use Confluence for
We built the SecTepe Wiki ourselves, modeled on Confluence. It covers the way teams work in Confluence. And it runs on your own platform.
| Job | In Confluence | In SecTepe Wiki |
|---|---|---|
| Spaces and page tree | Spaces, page hierarchy | Team and personal spaces. You sort the page tree by drag and drop. |
| Writing together | Real-time editing | Real-time co-editing with live cursors. Draft first, then publish with a version comment. |
| Macros and content | Macros | Panels, expand blocks, status, table of contents, page properties, tables, tasks and diagrams. |
| Templates | Blueprints | Meeting notes, decision, how-to, retro, project plan and requirements. |
| Permissions | Space and page rights | Permission matrix per space. Page limits follow the hierarchy. Anonymous spaces are possible too. |
| Versions | Page history | Compare and restore versions. Plus a trash bin and an archive. |
| Search and export | Search, export to PDF and Word | Full-text search, filtered by permission. Export to PDF, HTML, Markdown and DOCX. |
| Hosting | Atlassian Cloud or Data Center | Self-hosted in the EU, with support for many tenants. Sign-in runs through central single sign-on. |
Why teams look for a Confluence alternative
Company knowledge is some of your most sensitive data: processes, architecture, decisions and access details. You should decide where it lives.
Your knowledge stays with you
The wiki runs in your data center, with an EU provider or in the sovereign EU cloud run by SecTepe. Your data leaves the EU only if you explicitly ask for it.
Open source under Apache 2.0
The SecTepe Wiki is licensed under Apache 2.0. The editor uses only MIT-licensed add-ons. You can check the code, and you are not tied to one vendor.
A wiki that teams really use
SecTepe built all three parts in house.
Editor
Write like in Confluence
The editor has a slash menu, @ mentions and [[ links to other pages. Several people edit a page at once and see each other's cursors. You publish drafts with a version comment.
- Panels, expand blocks, status, date
- Table of contents, child pages, page embeds
- Tables, layouts, code with syntax highlighting
- Diagrams, written as text or drawn by hand
Spaces and permissions
Rights that fit your company
For each space, you set who may view, comment, edit, delete, export or manage. That works for people, groups, all signed-in users or anonymous visitors. Limits on single pages follow the hierarchy.
- Team and personal spaces
- Share links and public spaces
- Groups from the central SSO
- Audit log for every change
Comments and tasks
Work together around the page
Comment at the end of a page or right in the text. React to posts and watch the pages that matter to you. Tasks with an owner and a due date sit right in the document.
- Inline and page comments
- Tasks with owner and due date
- Alerts and watching
- Attachments with versions and virus scan
How the wiki fits in
The wiki is one part of SecTepe.Comm. These pages show the rest of the platform.
Microsoft Teams alternative
Chat, meetings and files on the same platform.
Files and documents
File storage for your files, a digital archive for your documents.
Packages and request
Core suite, modules and bundles. Send a request with no obligation.
Technical foundation
The wiki is our own development. Diagrams use Mermaid and draw.io, and sign-in runs through Keycloak. For files and the archive, SecTepe.Comm uses Nextcloud and Paperless-ngx.
Common questions about the Confluence alternative
- What is a good open-source alternative to Confluence?
- A good Confluence alternative gives you spaces with permissions, a page tree, templates, comments and shared editing. The SecTepe Wiki covers all of that. It is licensed under Apache 2.0 and runs self-hosted in the EU.
- Can several people work on one page at the same time?
- Yes. The SecTepe Wiki supports real-time co-editing with live cursors. Changes land in a draft first. You publish them with a version comment. You can compare and restore older versions.
- Can we move over from Confluence?
- Yes. We guide the move from Confluence, SharePoint or OneDrive. Before we start, we agree which content moves and how, based on your spaces and pages.
- Can the wiki be public or shared with outsiders?
- Yes. Spaces can allow anonymous read access. You can share single pages with a share link. You set the rights for each space and page.
- Which formats can pages be exported to?
- You export pages as PDF, HTML, Markdown or DOCX. Whole spaces export as a ZIP archive.
- Where is the data stored?
- In your own data center, with an EU provider of your choice or in the sovereign EU cloud run by SecTepe. Your data leaves the EU only if you explicitly ask for it.
Ready for a wiki you own?
We show you the SecTepe Wiki. Then we plan the move from Confluence with you.
How we work with you
We want to work with you for the long run, not just deliver once. Our way of working has four steps. So you always know what comes next, who does what and what you get.
1. Free initial conversation
We learn where you stand and what you want. In 30 to 45 minutes we check if we are a good fit. We show you options and answer your questions. There is no obligation.
2. Current state review
We check where you stand today: tech, processes and rules. You get a list of strengths and gaps, sorted by urgency. Our offer is based on it.
3. Delivery with a dedicated lead
An experienced lead guides you through the project. You get clear goals, an open plan for time and cost, and a status every week. All results are written down and belong to you.
4. Running and reviewing
After the project we stay with you. We run systems for you, check them at set times and keep track of open tasks. When new threats or new rules come up, we get in touch.
